Colorado Babysitter Sentenced After Being Caught With Child Pornography

Man behind bars

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Pedro Teniende of Centennial, Colorado after finding more than 140,000 images of child pornography on his computer and cell phone.

Some of the photos that Teniede had in his possession were of two children that he babysat frequently between 2013 and 2014.

Teniede initially caught the attention of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit on February 7, 2014 after creating an ad that used the word “incest” in Craigslist’s personal section. The advertisement also contained four images of child pornography that were posted by Teniede.

Authorities went undercover and initiated contact with Teniede; during his conversation with a detective, Teniede mentioned that he had an interest in children ages “6 on up.”

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office along with the Denver FBI office and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tracked Teniede down via his IP address which was used to upload the images of child pornography to Craigslist. The information was passed over to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office after finding out that Teniede lived in Arapahoe County.

A search warrant was executed on September 4, 2014, allowing the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office to search Teniende’s home.

Investigators found one laptop that contained twelve folders of child pornography by Teniende’s bed. One of the folders was named “MY GIRLS,” and it contained 211 photos of the two children that he babysat, who were between the ages of nine and twelve. The photos had images of the victims with their shirts tucked up to their neck.

Aside from the images on his computer, police also found a thumb drive that contained approximately 130,000 images as well as his phone which had over 10,000 images and 150 videos.

Police learned that Teniende collected child pornography for nearly two years and during that time, he traded the images he collected with close to 1,000 people. Additionally, he filled three USB drives with images, which he then sold for $25 each.

Teniende pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation induce/entice, a class three felony and one count of sexual exploitation 20+ videos, a class four felony.

A judge sentenced Teniende on Monday to five years in the Department of Corrections. Additionally, Teniende will have to under intense supervised probation for ten years due to the two felony counts of sexual exploitation
